When working from photographs, which is a common practice in Children's portraiture, the artist must also have a very rich experience of painting portraits from life. That experience, unlike anything else, enables the artist to portray the likeness with the most natural and life-like appearance, which truly immortalizes the person, and creates the portrait, which goes far beyond its photographic references.
